While part-time jobs may seem irrelevant or a waste of time, they actually help our economy, people, and other businesses. As for people, specifically teens, part-time jobs give a steady income source that they can use as pocket money or even to save up for college, to start a business, and other things for their future. As for businesses, workers will spend their salary on some products or services like restaurants, stores, or entertainment businesses so this spending gives other businesses income which keeps money circulating. Furthermore, the income they earn gives people more purchasing power which adds to economic activity. To add on, part-time jobs employ students or people who are trying to gain more work experience and cannot work full time. Sometimes businesses may expand creating additional jobs which increases employment opportunities and occasionally gives individuals a chance to make their part-time job full-time. On top of that, it costs businesses more money to have lots of full-time employees so part-time workers allow companies to hire people for the number of hours they need which also helps them manage expenses. Especially, during the holiday season, corporations will be busier so employees can be scheduled during those slots allowing enterprises to sufficiently handle customer demand. Moreover, part-time jobs help young people develop skills that make it easier to qualify for jobs in the future like communication, teamwork, responsibility, etc. Some industries don’t have a sufficient number of workers to meet their customer demand so part-time employees can greatly help fix that gap. If the gap isn’t fixed businesses will struggle to increase revenue because despite getting more customers they won’t be able to supply that high number of products if there aren’t enough employees. To add on, part-time jobs play a huge role in the gross domestic product because they contribute to the production of goods so their job is quite valuable when it comes to the economy’s overall output so the more widespread part-time employment is, the better for the economy. As for health benefits, shorter shifts reduce stress and the risk of getting burnt out. It also allows individuals to take care of their personal life; other aspects like family, school, hobbies, etc. Additionally, this allows teens to learn how to juggle different responsibilities like school, work, extracurriculars, and family. This ensures they don’t get overwhelmed but still learn to prioritize tasks and manage time. Employment can also generate tax revenue through the salary workers earn which encourages economic activity created from their spending. The consumer and demand connection improves as a higher employment rate leads to more spending on goods which causes businesses to produce more products or services overall helping them gain more revenue to circle around. To add on, consumer demand will allow corporations to increase not only production but also locations which require more workers, increasing employment opportunities and allowing those in need to earn money and make a living. Also, individuals can gain greater financial independence especially for young adults and teenagers who are dependent on their parents. They can slowly learn how to manage money without handling a crazy amount. Furthermore, part-time jobs tend to have decent retirement plans as you can get access to a 401 (k) or other plans that are similar to it showing the long-term benefits. Some corporations also cover health bills like medical and dental and or they give paid time off for sick days if you work around 20 hours per week but this doesn’t apply to all businesses. Moreover, there are a lot of financial perks to part-time jobs as most enterprises give employee discounts, stocks, or even tuition support. While all of these benefits don’t apply to every single part-time job that has ever existed, there are a decent number of perks you receive. Overall, part-time employment contributes to the overall cycle between workers, businesses, and the economy as the money workers earn gets spent on products supporting economic growth helping businesses generate higher revenue.
